Integrity

"The first principle is that you must not fool yourself -- and you are the easiest person to fool. So I wish you... the good luck to be somewhere where you are free to maintain your integrity, where you do not feel forced by a need to maintain your position in the organization, financial support, or so on, to lose your integrity.

May you have that freedom."

Motives of Heroic Deeds

1. People commit heroic deeds for many motives, a genuine hero commit heroic deeds for the sake of other people, for people who live under colonalization like many heroes from our country they did it to seize our freedom and honour from the foreigner (which occupy our country in the past). They prefer to die in freedom and honour instead living under a shameful condition. But some people commit heroic deeds just to seek popularity.
2 and 3. Motives of heroes froum our country now is different from the past, in the past our hero struggle physically to bring down the foreign government who exploit our country’s people and natural resources. But now the motives of heroes from our country is to give contribution to the development of our country.
4. No, teacher sacrificing their times and stamina to educate students, but not sacrificing their lives. So heroism is NOT always associated with risking lives. That also apply for doctor, forefighter, police and many people who taking important and unique role in our society.
5. Well, about folk heroes, we had Si Pitung. Si Pitung is an equivalent of European Robin Hood in our country. He stole from rich people who exploit the poor people in our country. He had a white magic that protect him from bullet which taught by his martial art teacher. However he was betrayed by his envious friend who reveal the secret about the weakness of his magic. The weakness is if Si Pitung is hit by silver bullet he will be died. Later he was killed after his enemy found this secret.
6. If we learn the lives of a hero and applied the good thing it will be good for the development of our character eventhough just in daily life it will be very influential.
A hero tales had a positive impact in youth development since youth today was suffering from the lack of positive example of a hero and their deeds.
